Picked some of these up at a local sportshop, camo 3/8oz. Work great on my pimples with a single perch eye on the hooks. These floats do move on even the lightest bites, picked up a few fish that I could not get to go on my active rods. I'm sold on them, threw all my old Thills in the trash
Dead Stick Floats
Dead Stick Ice Fishing Floats from Blood Run Tackle!
Dead Stick Floats are custom slip floats for fishing live or dead bait in "dead stick" ice fishing holes where the rod is "not in hand". Ideal for live or dead shiners, minnows, alewife, chubs as well as jigging spoons, jigging raps and swedish pimples both rigged or un-rigged.
Can be used on small panfish as well as Walleye, Whitefish, Herring, Pike, Steelhead and Brown Trout.
The majority of dead stick bites go undetected for two important reasons....One, the float is not properly matched to the weight of your presentation...i.e. you must fish a balanced float that is the correct size to support the weight of your jig, bait or lure. This is to ensure immediate detection on even the slightest of taps, bites or inhales.
The second reason most dead stick bites go undetected is due to the shape of the float. Standard "ball" or " bell" shaped floats have more surface area on the water. As the light bite or inhale occurs, it requires greater force by the fish to pull the float down into the water, thus, creating an un-natural bait-take situation for the fish...resulting in a spit out.
A properly designed tapered cigar shape float, such as the Dead Stick float, provides next to ZERO resistance to even the slightest of bites by small panfish as it gets inhaled. This gives you the angler a bite detection of the float dropping down where even the fish cannot detect any resistance from a float above. This results in less missed bites, and more hookups!
Available in a variety of sizes to match the most common jigging spoon, lure and bait designs. Colors available are Natural Balsa, Camo and Titanium Grey, each with a yellow/white band below the orange top. When properly matched with your presentation, your float should sit in the water approximately on the white/yellow line. This is the ideal float balance which will allow for subtle bite detection, but ZERO take down resistance to the fish.

Love these floats on my deadstick rods for Walleye, easy to see in low light, nice high vis tops. I bought the big dog 1 oz for my pike setups and they work well, highly recommend!
Have been using these float all season on whitefish and panfish. I like the Ice Jig size for my extra holes when I am jigging my spring tip in my active hole.
